Growing up a queer lad in a heavily religious community was definitely a struggle, let alone growing up Catholic in a Protestant dominated society. He was impressed into the Royal Navy early on, only to be abused by a higher officer and left resourceless in a Caribbean port. Fueled primarily by spite after essentially being marooned, Glenn used his sailing proficiency to survive as an outcast among fellow outcasts in the "pirate's republic" of Nassau.
